Established in Spring of 1935, rugby at SJU was dismantled before it's second season and shelved until 1973.

What we presently know as "the Johnnies", played Rugby from 1973 to 1992.

We have a St.John's RFC alumni side. "Old Boys" Rugby We play periodically as schedules and family permit.Please check the link for details.

IMPORTANT CHANGES - Rugby Alumni Dinner!

The SJU Rugby Old Boys from the 1970's teams and the 1980/90's teams are getting more involved as one group!

As you know, rugby at SJU was born in Spring of 1935 but it was short lived. In Spring of 1973 Alan Whelan and some like minded souls, formed the genesis of what we all know as SJU Rugby.
So in order to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the 1973 rebirth of rugby at SJU, there will be a "Rugby Ball" at the Knights of Columbus hall in Lynnebrook, NY.

So far numbers are over the 100 mark for confirmations.

Event: 35th Anniversary of rebirth of rugby at SJU in 1973 (73 rd anniversary of founding of club)
New Date: June 7th, 2008
Location: Knights of Columbus Hall, Lynnbrook, Long Island
Time: 7 PM to 12 AM
Drinks & Meal: Includes dinner, Open bar & DJ
Cost: $225 a couple, $150 a person
